The Human Rights Fellowship (herein ‘the HR Fellowship’ was initiated in September 2016 under the American Bar Association- Rule of Law Initiative. The HR Fellowship provides a unique opportunity for young lawyers who have demonstrated a commitment to the human rights field in their early career or during law school. The fellowship is designed to provide an enriching environment that promotes initiative taking to ensure our fellows can transform into young, independent leaders.

The HR Fellow is housed for a period of nine to twelve months at the Centre. During this time, the HR Fellow works on at least one position paper to enable the HR Fellow to dig deep and both research and investigate the chosen legal issue, along with this the HR fellow must submit a list of recommendations for future work on the particular area of law. In addition to this, our fellows have supported and led Clinical activities, interacted with relevant government stakeholders and also had the opportunity of clerking with a sitting Justice.
